Insights From Tammy: Change To Discover Courage Within
Aren’t we all a little beat up and bruised by what life delivers at times? Don’t we all, at some point, struggle with feelings of fear, inadequacy, and self-doubt? Are there really people out there that have been fortunate enough to avoid these feelings their entire life? I don’t believe so. So, if we are all susceptible to this kind of pain and anguish, why then do we often choose to look away for the answers? Successful change does not occur when we look away, rather successful change occurs when we look WITHIN. When looking within, we often find it is less about something “outside” ourselves and more about something “inside”. Rather than focusing on a particular situation, event, or person (other-oriented thinking) why not try examining things from the viewpoint that centers on ourselves (self-oriented thinking)?
An Introduction To Self-Examination & Looking Within
Indeed, it is very hard to look within to truly see yourself, but with guided support, you can effectively change your thought patterns and encourage true change within. When looking inward, we must find the courage to ask ourselves the difficult questions. When we examine what is within, we empower ourselves to choose happiness over unhappiness. Here are four questions that can help guide your journey. 1.) WHAT: What am I feeling? Can I identity specific thoughts and feelings? 2.) WHY: Why am I thinking these thoughts? Why am I feeling this way? 3.) WHERE: Where did these thoughts come from? Where did they begin? What is the source? 4.) HOW: How much of my reaction is within my control? How will I choose to react?
